When moving into a cloud computing solution, Karl Flinders writes on ComputerWeekly that companies can't forget about security, even if the cloud is being managed by a third party. Hackers could be getting more specific in what kind of businesses, people or other entities they attack in the next year.

"With more and more IT outsourcing to the cloud this year could see hackers cybercriminals target clouds. When a business uses the cloud it is outsourcing the security to a service provider so it is essential that proper security due diligence is carried out," Flinders writes.

Symantec's 2012 Cyber Security Forecast said as cloud gains popularity, security breaches will increase, adding that companies embracing the cloud should make sure that security stays tight so there are not many breaches over the next year. The forecast said mobile phones and other devices could make malware and data loss expand in businesses.

Companies should make sure that cloud computing stays secure after implementing data and other applications into it. A cloud-based mobile device management program may help cut down on breaches via smartphones, tablets and other devices.
