Cloud may offer better security than traditional storage

A big knock on cloud computing over the past couple of years has been the level of security it can offer businesses and people who use it, but technology writer Amanda Kondolojy writes on Infoboom that cloud computing could provide a company a layer of security it wouldn't otherwise have.
"Because content is served on-demand, every request is processed individually, which means abnormalities can be recognized sooner and IT professionals at midsize businesses can work on fixing any problems faster," she said. "Several companies are on the cutting edge of developing this type of software and are creating new ways to keep cloud users safe."
This alone makes the cloud attractive for those interested in a good security option, she said. While no method of storage will keep hackers completely at bay, Kondolojy said storing information in the cloud can help give IT professionals the upper hand over those who are after their information.
A write-up on Small Business Computing said companies looking to make their way into a secure cloud computing solution must research potential providers' processes and their means of securing a company's information. Businesses should ask about security and reliability before signing on anywhere.
