With cloud computing seemingly becoming extremely complex, the NetEvents business IT symposium in Rome said the industry needs to make it less complicated, according to an article on ITBusiness' website. Standards need to be formed, lest it become a stumbling block to adoption of the cloud
Peter Hall, an analyst at Ovum, presented the annual house's growth forecast, which said the cloud should be worth $66 billion by 2016. The industry was worth $14 billion in 2010. There are a large amount of firms coming out to provide cloud services, but the Metro Ethernet Forum, an industry forum promoting ethernet technologies in the cloud, said the industry needs to get together and put together service delivery standards for more firms to adopt the cloud.
"When it comes to APIs, standards, business models, service delivery and established cloud architectures, the cloud industry is in a bit of a mess," said Kevin Vachon, chief operating officer of the forum.
The Cloud Standards Customer Council recently released the Practical Guide to Cloud Computing, which tries to put together best practices and expertise from those in the cloud industry to straigthen out any confusion for adopting cloud computing.
