Every enterprise now likely needs some kind of mobility strategy to stay relevant, but as marketing professional Jenny Cohen Crompton wrote on Business 2 Community, it isn't easy leveraging this technology. Organizations can use mobile device management to make their way through the increasingly complex world, but she said there are some areas to consider before implementation that will help the company be successful

"The first step of choosing a partner is key," she said. "A mobility partner should have expertise far beyond the basics and should be well-versed in security, application management, consulting, design, solution implementation, and integration service. They should also be available for support and see the initiative through execution and beyond."

There should also be a mobile strategy created by looking at an overview of the architecture that will support  the devices, real scenarios for how they will be used and a road map for how to roll out applications and other tools via these gadgets.

Network World said having a policy is key, no matter if a company will be rolling out a bring your own device policy or simply issuing devices. This will cover the basics, such as what kind of password needs to be used, what is expected of employees and what kind of data can be stored.
