As cloud computing is adopted by a growing number of companies worldwide, the cloud is expected to contribute to the creation of millions of new jobs, across a range of sectors.

According to the findings of a recent study, cloud computing may help generate as many as 800,000 jobs in Europe, the Middle East and Asia by 2015, in the public sector alone.

In addition, the study predicted the cloud would lead to revenue of more than $1 trillion across a range of industries in key European economies. Cloud computing is expected to bring the greatest benefits to the retail, distribution and hotel sectors, which are predicted to see a total of more than $318 billion in revenue by 2015.

The study, which was conducted by the Center for Economics and Business Research, examined several key markets, including France, Italy, Spain, Germany and the United Kingdom.

A growing number of organizations are expected to adopt cloud computing in the United States as well. The U.S. government recently published a new IT strategy for the adoption of cloud computing in government agencies.
