Private cloud computing deployments are often seen as a solution to security concerns about public cloud offerings, but they have also been growing in popularity thanks to another function - simplifying integration challenges.

Kenneth Ziegler, president and CEO of Logicworks, said in an interview with IT Business Edge that private cloud computing offers more access to "engineering expertise" than public cloud deployments, making it a good way to address integration issues.

"Private cloud hosting provides a level of IT operations integration that cannot be achieved via public clouds," he told the news provider. "This integration gives enterprises the assurances they need in order to trust their most critical applications to outside parties."

Ziegler added that private cloud deployments are best-suited for applications and content that require "performance, compliance, security, and committed resources."

The long-standing reputation for private cloud deployments is that they are an alternative to the security risks of public cloud computing, because they reside within an organization's own firewall.

As security has been found to be the primary barrier to cloud computing adoption, private cloud computing has seen a significant amount of attention in the IT industry - Microsoft, for example, recently announced the development of a new private cloud software, Network World reported.
