A recent survey of small- and medium-sized businesses conducted by SMB Group and Hubspot has found a large number of SMBs are excited about the rest of the year and plan to increase their spending on technology and services during the next 12 months.

The survey, titled 2010 Small and Medium Businesses Routes to Market Study, interviewed 475 SMBs and was conducted by SMB Group and Hubspot. Small businesses were defined as having 99 or fewer employees, while medium-sized businesses were categorized as having between 100 and 1000 workers.

The report indicated SMBs “are very confused” and often have trouble realizing “what solutions will best help meet business challenges and goals.”

Despite the confusion, many companies aim to improve their current equipment and services. The survey found 50 percent of the respondents expect to increase their investments in technology services by as much as 20 percent during the next 12 months. Fifty-three percent of businesses that employ between 250 and 499 individuals plan to improve their infrastructure, according to the survey.
