Tom Clancy, vice president of education services for IT storage company EMC, told Mass High Tech that its job openings in cloud computing storage and management are the positions it struggles most to fill. As the cloud computing industry continues to grow, SaaS vendors need entry-level and experienced workers with a strong understanding in cloud computing deployment and practice.

Even people with advanced degrees in computer science rarely have formal education in information management or the math and science base to excel in positions related to cloud computing, according to Clancy. He believes that government initiatives that encourage math and science education will help the IT industry expand and avoid stagnation as it becomes an increasingly vital aspect of the United States economy.

A program developed by EMC and adopted by more than 400 academic institutions in 20 countries worldwide, the Academic Alliance Program, emphasizes education in information education and cloud computing expertise.

The University of California at Irvine announced in February that it will offer a course in cloud computing through its extension school. The program begins on April 10 and will provide IT professionals with a knowledge base to develop the skills needed to excel at a cloud computing company.ADNFCR-2553-ID-19703430-ADNFCR
