The increased use of smartphones and laptops in the enterprise sector has led Gartner, an IT market research firm, to predict that PC shipments will grow by 20 percent in 2010. Moreover, spending is likely to increase by 12.2 percent to about $245 billion.

The growth in dependability of cloud computing is the primary factor behind increased IT spending on portable computing units. Companies no longer struggle with desktop management or desktop security for multiple devices. This led Garter to predict that desktop computer shipments and growth will remain minimal throughout 2010 as companies use on-site IT less.

"Mini-notebooks are again forecast to boost mobile PC growth in 2010, but their contribution is expected to decline noticeably afterwards, as they face growing competition from new ultra-low-voltage ultraportables and next-generation tablets," George Shiffler, a research director at Gartner, said in a release. "We expect mobile PCs to drive 90 percent of PC growth over the next three years."

Similarly, Outsourcery.com reported believes that one-fifth of enterprise will rely on SaaS by 2012. As companies limit IT budgets or continue to cut IT spending, SaaS provides an alternative that is cost-efficient without sacrificing performance.ADNFCR-2553-ID-19670204-ADNFCR
