Cloud benefits to a business include cost reduction of IT expenses and scalability, though according to Internet Retailer, one merchandiser claims web-hosted software empowers normal business record keeping.

Wrigleyville Sports, a Chicago-based sports apparel company, claims that server automation hosted by cloud computing enables the company to keep better track of its extensive inventories, states the news source.

The company uses NetSuite's cloud applications. According to executives with the cloud developer, other business benefits are delivered through virtual software.

“In cloud computing, the vendor hosts all of the technology and the retailer accesses it over the web," said Baruch Goldwasser, director of strategy for NetSuite. "All you need is a browser.”

Companies may be encouraged to move forward with the cloud plans, as most service offerings feature low up-front costs, claims Internet Retailer. Coupled with the platform's ability to save in the long run, this makes the technology an appealing enterprise strategy consideration.

One of the unique aspects of the cloud is that its recent popularity is mostly attributed to its consumer appeal, states the New York Times. In the past, businesses were usually at the forefront of IT revolutions, though now it appears that large corporations are dedicated to moving forward with virtualization.
