Companies that are considering outsourcing IT operations to a cloud computing vendor will save money in the long run. In the short term, however, it is possible that costs to the organization to restructuring may hinder total savings, according to Network Computing.
While the initial savings figures may not be has high as expected, the other benefits of life in the cloud will help companies seamlessly move into the 21st century. There are limitations with onsite IT hosting that do not exist in cloud computing, such as server space and dealing with the people responsible for each task.
"If you can save an employee six seconds out of every hour that he might be waiting for an application to run by adding a server instance, you could conceivably be breaking even on the cost of that service," Steve Oberlin, a cloud computing expert, told Network Computing.
The true benefits of cloud computing are everywhere, but some organizations still refuse to even consider the move. They often cite security, but the development of McAfee's Cloud Secure Program, which combines the most reliable aspects of cloud security into one security system, may change the minds of IT decision makers in the near future.
