SaaS provider DataSphere, a company based in Bellevue, Washington, provides media companies the ability to target specific demographics with hyperlocal ad campaigns as they develop news websites tailored for specific towns and neighborhoods in their area.
KLAS-TV, a CBS affiliate in Las Vegas, announced Monday it will launch a series of websites providing news to areas of the city. With DataSphere's LocalNet service, KLAS-TV will be able to tailor its ads specifically to the neighborhood it serves.
DataSphere has already helped 160 organizations in similar pursuits since first offering the service.
"With the launch of these neighborhood sites, local communities will have a great place to learn about issues that really impact their daily lives," said Christopher Way, director of digital media, KLAS-TV. "Similarly, small business advertisers will now have a very compelling advertising platform to reach and communicate with the specific group of people that make up their customer base."
Newspapers like The Boston Globe have adopted similar methods of connecting readers with advertisers in their area. The newspaper's "Your Town" project focuses on 15 towns currently with stories from each town and both local and national ads aimed at the town's demographics.
