With one of the more exciting games in NFL Super Bowl history in the books, Jeff Normal of the CloudTweaks blog said cloud computing may have played a role in the Giants' title victory.

"Growing in reputation is the capacity of the cloud to boost and reinforce the skills and promise of professional sports teams in a mood to embrace cutting edge technology," Norman said. "Spokespeople for the winning New York Giants team are remaining mum about its engagement in cloud computing. Yet an exploration of just what’s possible for a high-profile athletic organization in the cloud provides an interesting stimulus for thought."

He said the cloud allows coaches, team owners and others to keep track of even the smallest details of practice and the games. Normal believes it also allows the team to build a dynamic setting for players to learn and retain key information for the games that could come in helpful in big moments.

The blog post mentions cloud computing companies that have helped sports teams manage information. One such provider said on its website that the cloud can provide sports teams with a higher level of support for players, coaches and the rest of the organization.
