Fortune Magazine: Private, hybrid clouds will get bigger in 2012
-
12/21/2011
Organizations across the scope of business have started using cloud computing in 2011 and Matthew Lodge of Fortune Magazine predicts it will grow even bigger in 2012. He believes private and hybrid clouds will see growth in the next year.
Lodge calls the people that say the private cloud isn't a "real cloud" holier than thou and said there are plenty of great business reasons to get into private cloud computing. With hybrid clouds, he said it allows business to spread out information and not have to make an exclusive choice between public and private cloud computing.
"Private clouds are essential to organizations dealing with regulators, standards and other non-technical issues that are crucial to running business applications," Lodge said. "The choice is driven by the needs of the business and the application, ensuring that hybrid clouds, making use of both public and private clouds as appropriate, will continue to be the pragmatic decision for most organizations."
Gartner said the hybrid cloud computing model will serve to secure, manage and govern information and will be a "major focus" in 2012. Many businesses could find this model of cloud very helpful.
