A new report from CWJobs found 40 percent of 1,300 responding IT professionals said cloud computing would lead to the creation of new jobs.
The surveys findings contradict recent reports that said cloud computing would be the death of IT departments. In reality, only 28 percent of respondents thought the cloud would decrease job opportunities.
It is encouraging to see that IT professionals recognize the career opportunities emerging from the rise of cloud computing, said Richard Nott, website director at CWJobs. However, confusion evidently surrounds how candidates can best bolster their CVs for these opportunities.
Although the technology landscape has yet to show which specific skills will be beneficial in the cloud, the majority of IT professionals do believe there will be a need to adapt to capitalize on the changing IT landscape, and that now is the time to do this, he added.
The majority of respondents agreed with Notts assessment, as nearly 75 percent said they think cloud computing skills would improve their chances of landing a job.
The expectation of cloud computing to fuel job growth may stem from the fact that many researchers believe the industry will surge in the next couple years. A recent cloud study found 70 percent of IT decision makers currently use or plan to use the cloud within the next two years.
