About CenterBeam's Infrastructure
Over a decade ago, CenterBeam became one of the very first ‘cloud services’ providers when we built, and patented, the first hosted Microsoft® Exchange environment. It was then that CenterBeam realized the need to build the infrastructure from the ground up so that we could successfully serve our clients.
CenterBeam understands that a secure, robust infrastructure is critical to our business and to our clients. When clients are considering the pros and cons of moving to a hosted or cloud based IT solution, security, high availability and the ability to achieve industry standards are always the top concerns. At CenterBeam, we are continually evaluating and evolving our infrastructure to meet the growing demands of our customers and ensure that we meet or exceed the strictest of standards.
About the Facilities
SAS-70, Type II Certified – Times Two
CenterBeam’s infrastructure is hosted in a Tier-3, Class A datacenter with triple redundancy built into every element of the systems (n+1). Additionally, both CenterBeam and its datacenter partner, CenturyLink (formerly Qwest Communications International), are each SAS-70, Type-II certified. This means that CenterBeam’s controls on security procedure and practice, IT policies, and infrastructure are audited annually to ensure compliance with the strictest standards and best practices.
CenterBeam’s controls are based on the COSO framework – the same control framework that Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance is based on.
The Network Infrastructure
CenterBeam’s Datacenter network is built upon a fully redundant architecture, utilizing a three-tiered hierarchical network model. Internet access is provided by triple redundant, multi-homed provider uplinks to both Qwest and Internap. Internal and external redundant firewalling allows for complete protection and policy control to all CenterBeam services and virtualized client environments. Dedicated Service Provider class routing platforms terminate Dynamic Multipoint VPN tunneling to our clients to provide fully encrypted data transmission for secure client communication into the CenterBeam datacenter network, while allowing for enhanced scalability and ease of future expansion.
Additionally, virtualized client environments within the Datacenter are completely isolated and controlled via Virtualized Routing and Forwarding (VRF) segmentation. This robustness of design delivers the security, reliability, efficiency, fault tolerance, manageability, adaptability and performance optimization that characterize all CenterBeam service offerings.
The Server Infrastructure
CenterBeam’s core systems are hosted on a large VMware® ESX™ environment. CenterBeam’s ESX environment is fully redundant and utilizes advanced features such as high availability and dynamic resource scheduling to maintain availability and performance levels across the enterprise. CenterBeam’s cloud product lines are hosted on the VMware environment to take advantage of the robustness of that platform.
In addition, CenterBeam eliminates single points of failure at each level using technologies such as Microsoft Cluster Services for Microsoft SQL Servers® and multiple web interfaces and gateways for our Citrix® based vAPP solution.
CenterBeam has a central software deployment, antivirus, patching and malware solution that we use to maintain all servers at our Datacenter. Using this technology CenterBeam maintains all datacenter servers at the highest possible security levels. Coupled with a redundant network and firewall design CenterBeam’s datacenter is a true state of the art infrastructure.
Network Operations Center
CenterBeam operates two geographically dispersed Network Operations Centers (in San Diego, Ca. and Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada), 24x7, to ensure an impressive 99.995% uptime of its infrastructure. The NOC utilizes service provider class tools such as CA eHealth®, HP OpenView™ and Operations Manager, and Microsoft® System Configuration Manager to monitor and manage our infrastructure, and that of our clients, around the clock. CenterBeam also develops and utilizes the BMC Software® Remedy® ticketing tool for all problem tracking, trouble ticketing and change management tracking.
Staff
CenterBeam prides itself on hiring and retaining the best technical staff in the industry. In order to maintain our infrastructure to the highest standard possible, CenterBeam employs full-time, highly certified, architect level engineers for each of its core disciplines: Datacenter, Network, Server, Messaging, Security, Desktop, and Tools.
Prior to beginning a career with CenterBeam, we require employees to pass an extensive background and integrity check. Pre-employment screening includes criminal records dating back 7 years, nationwide criminal records from age 18, and past employment records for their previous 3 jobs.
