University of New Mexico Foundation Moves to the Cloud

CenterBeam 365+ Hosted Collaboration Suite Allows 501.3c to Consume IT Services On-demand

SAN JOSE, CA - 11/10/2011

CenterBeam Inc., a pioneer in delivering hosted IT services, today announced the University of New Mexico Foundation has selected to move into the cloud using CenterBeam 365+™. With the move, UNM Foundation will be able to standardize all employees onto Microsoft® Outlook Web App (OWA) without investing in its infrastructure, installing desktop clients or purchasing Outlook 2010 licenses. Instead, the Foundation will leverage CenterBeam’s enterprise-class infrastructure.

UNM Foundation became independent from the University of New Mexico in 2008. Leveraging CenterBeam’s full service cloud solution will now enable the UNM Foundation to meet the goal of separating its IT services from the University of New Mexico’s infrastructure. Because CenterBeam 365+ is delivered over the cloud, the transition can be made much faster, and more cost-effectively, than it would take for the Foundation to build and provision in-house.

“As a not for profit organization, budget is a major concern for us. Moving IT to the cloud provides a lower cost structure and lets us outsource an area that is not core to our business,” said Curtis Helsel, Sr. Director of Advancement & Admin. Services, UNM Foundation. “With CenterBeam 365+, the Foundation will be able to standardize our webmail and increase our e-mail security. We’ll also be positioned to add IT capabilities included as part of the CenterBeam 365+ platform on demand.”

“Our primary goal is to simplify IT for our customers,” said Shahin Pirooz, EVP and CTO, CenterBeam. “For the UNM Foundation, this meant handling the complexity of moving employees from three email systems and multiple clients onto a single, more secure webmail solution. Within CenterBeam 365+, delivery of Outlook Web App incorporates the leading anti-spam and anti-virus technology from Symantec.cloud.”

The full CenterBeam 365+ platform includes Microsoft Office® Web Apps, as well as Microsoft SharePoint®, Microsoft Lync™ and Microsoft Exchange. CenterBeam 365+ delivers 17 features not available in the Microsoft Office 365 cloud offering and is built from the ground up to deliver enterprise-class security. CenterBeam houses its customers’ cloud environment in a Tier-3, Class A datacenter with triple redundancy built into every element of the systems (n+1). Both CenterBeam and its datacenter partner are SAS-70, Type-II certified.
