CenterBeam's Corporate Responsibility Program Honored in Third Annual International Business Awards

CenterBeam earns a Certificate of Finalist Recognition for "Best Corporate Social Responsibility Program” from the 2006 International Business Awards.

SAN JOSE, CA - 06/06/2006

Today, CenterBeam, Inc. announced it has earned a Certificate of Finalist Recognition for "Best Corporate Social Responsibility Program” from the 2006 International Business Awards. Described by the media as "the business world's Oscars"—also known as the Stevie Awards—recipients of 82 International Stevie Award trophies were selected from more than 700 nominations received from companies and individuals in more than 30 countries.

Through individual commitments of time and direct corporate contributions, CenterBeam has consistently and energetically helped organizations ranging from Habitat for Humanity, the Special Olympics, Second Harvest Food Banks, American Red Cross, Bill Wilson Center and many others. The Entrepreneurs Foundation awarded CenterBeam its “Company of the Year” award in 2004 for its exemplary community efforts and noted its executive leadership's integration of community into its business practices.

“A critical success factor for CenterBeam is not only how well we do in business—but that we do business well,” said Kirstin Burke, CenterBeam’s director of marketing communications. “We place a focus on corporate philanthropy as a cornerstone for the development of successful professionals, as well as for building a great organization. This includes recruiting professionals who share a passion for doing the right thing and incenting our staff for making a difference.”

A key community partnership is with the Bill Wilson Center in San Jose. “CenterBeam’s involvement with the Bill Wilson Center has added a level of energy, creativity and focused results to our organization,” states Judy Whittier, director of community resources at Bill Wilson Center in San Jose. “We share common values, and a desire to invest in the development of our young people, making sure they have access to the variety of services needed to grow to be healthy and self-sufficient adults.” Bill Wilson Center supports and strengthens the community by serving youth and families through counseling, housing, education, and advocacy—serving over 10,000 clients in Santa Clara County annually.

Members of the Awards' Board of Distinguished Judges & Advisors and their staffs selected International Stevie winners from among the Finalists, which were determined by volunteer judges around the world during two months of preliminary judging. CenterBeam CEO Kevin Francis also won first place for Best Turnaround Executive.

“The growth in entries this year illustrates the increasing importance of The International Business Awards worldwide,” said Michael Gallagher, president of The Stevie Awards, presenters of the IBAs. “We congratulate all of the Finalists and International Stevie Awards winners, and we look forward to honoring them for their achievements at our gala awards dinner in New York on June 26.”
